achievement Coordinator

My name is Nathaniel Barnes, and I am currently the Achievement Coordinator here at Aloma D. Johnson Charter School. I am very excited to serve in the capacity of curriculum and instruction considering it makes provision for me to see our students “learn and grow”, daily. In regards to my experience, I have worked in the field of education within two different states over the course of six years. My experience in education includes: teaching third and first grade here locally in Western New York. In addition to the referenced teaching position, I also have experience as a Literacy Coach working for Buffalo Public Schools. Prior to transitioning from classroom teacher to my referenced leadership roles, I taught first grade in Baltimore, MD for three consecutive years.

I am a graduate of Medaille College. I received my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education in 2011. In addition, I also attended Medaille College for my graduate studies; in 2012, I earned a Master’s of Science in Literacy Education. I also attended Canisius College and obtained an Advanced Certificate in Educational Leadership & Supervision in December of 2016. With this being said, I am a firm believer that we are all “life-long learners”.

In addition to the aforementioned, I have also served many curriculum restructuring committees both locally and out of state. During the time I resided in Baltimore, I also created an After-School Literacy Curriculum/program for non-profit organization for inner city students. I am grateful to have a platform in which I can use my experiences to aid in the success of this great institution.
